The AMDA Foundation sincerely appreciates your support and could not move forward, fund its studies and programs, or have an impact on long term care practice and research without the help of individuals and organizations that share our vision.
The 2013 Caring Canines Calendar is now accepting photo submissions. The Calendar honors pets that bring joy to patients living in long term care facilities. Many long term care facilities and practitioners have embraced the miraculous role animals play with their residents and others; and, increasingly, pets are part of the long term care family. In some settings, medical directors, other team leaders, or volunteers bring their dogs to work while other dogs live alongside the human residents. Research studies have documented the many benefits of animal-assisted therapy – including that pets help reduce depression, improve mental function, and lower blood pressure and heart rate.
Through the publication of the Caring Canines Calendar, the AMDA Foundation seeks to document inspiring personal stories about animals of all kinds who make a difference in the lives of long term care residents.
